When washed up writer Holly Martins arrives in war-torn Vienna only to find his friend Harry Lime dead under mysterious circumstances, he resolves to unravel the case, leading him through the city and exposing a dark world of black-market crime. As he learns more about his friend, he realizes he was not the man he thought.
