Alfred Hitchcock delivers international intrigue on a mountain. Socialite Iris Henderson befriends a middle-aged governess Miss Froy when their train is delayed by an avalanche, but she has no idea that once the train starts its journey again, it will put both of them and the other passengers in danger. Miss Froy disappears, and when Iris tries to find her new friend, the other passengers deny seeing her. Her only ally is Gilbert, a musician with whom she had argued the night before. As they piece together the puzzle, they stage a daring rescue of Miss Froy, leading to a shootout and frantic escape to freedom and the truth. 35mm
