Posted: October 16, 2024

CAPA presents a special screening of My Pathetic Career, a documentary by Robert Post, celebrated for his 50-year career as a touring one-man variety show performer, at 7:30 pm Thursday, November 14, in the Southern Theatre (21 E. Main St.).

Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the CBUSArts Ticket Center at the Ohio Theatre (39 E. State St.), online at www.capa.com or www.CBUSArts.com, and by phone at (614) 469-0939.

In My Pathetic Career, Post highlights his unique creative process, exploring life on the road, his evolving artistic work, and how his Midwestern roots and dry humor continue to shape his career. This screening offers a deep and entertaining glimpse into the life of an outlier artist, balancing the highs of performing on prestigious stages like the Kennedy Center with the personal challenges that defined his path.

The film captures the roller coaster ride of Post’s life as a solo artist, blending humor and poignancy. Through his video camera, a constant companion on the road for over three decades, Post documents his encounters with odd and endearing people across the world, and shares personal reflections on his journey—from childhood struggles and career highs to battling fear and self-doubt.

Don't miss this insightful look into the life of a man whose story is as funny and unpredictable as it is deeply human.
