The Tchaikovsky Ballet Theatre dances a sparkling production of Sleeping Beauty, often considered the finest achievement of classical ballet. From its marvelous cast of dancers to its glorious Tchaikovsky score, the production is simply magical in every way.

A timeless classic, Sleeping Beauty is one of the world’s best known and most celebrated ballets, bringing a famous fairy tale to life as both solo and ensemble dance work complement Tchaikovsky’s brilliant score. With original choreography by Marius Pepita, this ballet is pure elegance in nature, with the ability to intoxicate viewers with its sheer beauty and enchantment.

A ballet in three acts, Sleeping Beauty tells the story of the Princess Aurora, who upon pricking her finger is placed under a hundred year spell, only to be awoken by a charming and handsome prince. Known as Tchaikovsky’s first successful ballet score, Sleeping Beauty’s magnificent music and dance has captivated audiences for over a century, bringing the characters of the Lilac Fairy, the evil Carabosse, and many others to a magical awakening off the pages of books and onto the stage.

One of the classical repertoire’s most famous and recognized ballets, Sleeping Beauty is sure to delight with elaborate costumes and scenery that depict the world of fairy-tale creatures and spellbinding ideas and images. With the power to entrance, the ballet is known for its inspirational affect on both famous dancer Anna Pavlova and choreographer George Ballentine, who were both led to their illustrious careers after their introduction to this charming and beautiful piece of artwork.

This production, performed by the Tchaikovsky Ballet Theatre of Russia will thrill and delight audiences, combining both powerful and legendary music with renowned dancers committed to excellence in their portrayal of this majestic and beloved tale.

“… new exemplary “Sleeping Beauty” … one of the year’s indispensable ballet experiences.”

Lewis Segal, “L.A. Times”, USA, 2003
