View video of Annie and other upcoming events on the Shubert Theater's You Tube channel. Originally appearing on stage in 1977, Annie has become one of the most well-known and widely popular shows of all time, based on the comic book character of Little Orphan Annie by Harold Gray. Featuring song and dance, along with a flair for excitement and adventure, Annie invites both children and adults to participate in a story of love, hope, and perseverance that guarantees to entertain. Living in an orphanage run by the wretched bully Miss Hannigan, 11-year-old, red-haired Annie and her roommates pray for the day their parents come to take them home. Annie, an ever-hopeful and spritely young girl leads the other orphans in a chorus of song and dance, confident that their chance at happiness is just around the corner. With her bouncing red curls lighting up the stage, Annie and her youthful optimism electrify each scene, teaching her on-stage friends and audience alike the importance of “never dressing without a smile” and always looking towards “tomorrow”. Featuring many popular songs, Annie provides a masterpiece of a score with catchy tunes and rhythms that are bound to provide enthusiasm for this little girl’s mission to find love. Revealing a portrait of American history, both the music and setting speak of the times, and the tune “We’d Like to Thank You Herbert Hoover” depicts the era of the Depression, in which citizens, like Annie, try to remain positive and hopeful amongst times of distress. A constantly driven plot line, songs that stimulate, and a heartfelt lesson of love and hope make Annie one of the most memorable musicals to ever grace the stage. Let you and your family join Annie on her memorable journey to find affection and a place to call home. All prices listed below include a $3 restoration charge. |
