BROADWAY ACROSS AMERICA BROADENS PARTNERSHIP WITH CAPA

Broadway Across America (BAA) has renewed its agreement with the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) to present Broadway productions in Columbus. Under the new 10-year agreement, CAPA will locally manage the Fifth Third Bank Broadway Across America Series, taking on the responsibilities of marketing, event management, ticketing, sponsorship, and public relations.

“We have enjoyed our successful relationship with Broadway Across America for many years and look forward to the challenge of our new growing responsibilities,” stated CAPA Board Chair Michael Petrecca.

“We have been working with CAPA for more than 20 years and are confident that with the expanded scope of the renewed contract, CAPA will enable BAA to have a greater reach, increased audiences, and better educational opportunities,” stated Broadway Across America CEO Miles Wilkin.

Beginning September 10, individual tickets for all six shows in the Broadway Across America 2009-10 season can be purchased at the Ohio Theatre Ticket Office (39 E. State St.), all Ticketmaster outlets, and www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (800) 745-3000 or (614) 469-0939. Season packages can be purchased by phone at (800) 294-1892 or at www.broadwayacrossamerica.com.

“Broadway generates between $5-10 million in ticket sales annually, providing $15-30 million in economic impact for Columbus each year,” said Paul Astleford, President and CEO of Experience Columbus. “Theatre generates revenue above and beyond ticket sales—everything from night-of-show purchases such as dinner and parking to accommodations and meals for the cast and crew, sometimes for several weeks.”
